Dreamscape - Lullabies from Around the World(more) »rank: 129999by: Jonathan Elliott, Auréole, Heidi Grant Murphy, William Mayer, Gary Schocker, George Tsontakis
: :With deftness and pristine, delicate beauty, Dreamscape smudges the line between lullabies and classical works in the world of music for kids. Sure, there are other, wonderful classical lullaby collections, but Dreamscape reaches beyond the classical repertoire while staying faithful to a chamber-music-meets-art-song approach. Heidi Grant Murphy sings with an enticing mix of the standard soprano's range and a gentleness that's in good keeping with the spirit of these works. Meanwhile, Auréole offers viola, flute, and harp accompaniment, subtle enough not to steal away from Grant Murphy and assertive enough to cultivate their own, sweet sonic space. The tunes originate in Crete, the ... |

Debussy: Orchestral Music(more) »rank: 111894from: Philips
: :Bernard Haitink's recordings of the Nocturnes and Jeux were hailed as among the finest available when initially issued. That LP provided rather short measure. Now you can get all of Debussy's most important orchestral music on two CDs for the price of one, and if the remaining performances don't quite reach the exalted level of the Nocturnes and Jeux, they come so close as to make no difference. Haitink was not a very assertive conductor (and he's gotten less so with age), but he was fortunate to have one of the world's best orchestras at the tip of his baton, and their recordings ... |

Great Pianists of the 20th Century - Selections from the definitive collection [Sampler](more) »rank: 139352by: Andrei Gavrilov, Walter Gieseking, Emil Grigoryevich Gilels, Friedrich Gulda
: :Philips' 100-volume Great Pianists of the 20th Century series is one of the most ambitious projects ever put together by a record company. For all the debate that will surely ensue over who was chosen and who was passed over, it's obvious that careful, loving attention has gone into the selection of content for the happy 72 to be admitted to this special pantheon (certain especially significant pianists are allotted two or even three volumes, such as Vladimir Horowitz). Each of the handsomely designed, sepia-tinted volumes--adorned with a black and white photo--contains two CDs and a thoughtful essay on the artist in question. ... |

DVD features
Yes, the unrated edition of The Dukes of Hazzard has nudity... but no, it's not of Jessica Simpson, but topless sorority girls. There are also two sets--"PG-13" and "unrated"--of deleted scenes and bloopers. The four minutes of unrated deleted scenes (supplementing the 25 minutes of "PG-13" deleted scenes) include more sorority girls and a menage à trois for Johnny Knoxville . The five minutes of unrated bloopers (the same amount as the "PG-13" bloopers) feature a few more girls but mostly bad language. Featurettes discuss the Daisy Duke short shorts (and show how you can make your own), car stunts, and the making of the movie (narrated by a cast member of the original TV series). --David Horiuchi
